Track-Attack Club Notes

Cashel to Cualáns

On Friday 28th of February, Track-Attacker Baiba Vilande is going to take on the challenge of running from the Rock of Cashel to Scoil Naomh Cualán in Borrisoleigh.
Baiba is doing the 32km fundraising challenge for Scoil Naomh Cualán as she wants to thank the school for all the care and education that they’ve given to her children Elizabete and Ralfs.
Baiba is a hugely popular and important member of our Track-Attack club and has been a huge addition to our organising committee.
We would encourage all our club members and supporters to click on the attached link and support Baiba in whatever way you can.
The very best of luck to you Baiba….

Carrs Lead the Way

Our Destination Latteragh Series which is sponsored by Pallas Cleaning Services has now been broken into nine different groups which will guarantee us some action packed weeks of activity in the lead up to our final destination on Saturday 12th April.

(Website Editor’s note: The results below are prior to Monday 27th Jan, so things may change this week once results are finalised)

Following a superb performance last week (Mon 20th Jan), Ciara Carr is the early leader in the Green Group with Noreen Ryan leading the chasing pack in second spot. Aidan Carr produced a blistering performance in the Yellow Group to earn an early two point lead over veteran Loughmore campaigner Tom McGrath.

The Red Group will be jam packed with action in the coming week with all 17 participants having already clocked under the 20 minute mark for the 4km distance. JJ Bourke is the one with the early target on his back having knocked 1:42 off his opening week’s effort. Having returned from injury, John F Kennedy is priming himself nicely for the challenge in the weeks ahead and is sitting only a single point behind JJ.

Gemma Brereton and Jacqueline Minogue are the joint pace setters early-on in the Blue Group while Mayo native Stephen Morrin is the table topper in the Orange Group. Jack Maher produced a super performance in week two when clipping 1:37 off his opening effort resulting in him holding a single point advantage in the Purple Group over the Keane sister Caoimhe and Niamh.

A hugely impressive display from Ralfs Vilande in the Black Group saw him climb to the peak of the league ladder but he is being chased down in impressive fashion by the Ryan sister Áine and Maggie who are placed in second and third positions respectfully.

The Pink Group sees Laura Ryan lead the way while in the White Group, the father/son duo of Johnny and Jack Ryan are the early joint leaders.

                                                                                             ————————————————————————————————-

Hi all,

I’ve been tasked with compiling and writing a history of GAA activity in the primary schools, e.g. North Finals/ County Finals, Primary Game, INTO mini sevens etc.

The more recent history is fairly well documented, however older records are sparse. I don’t want to leave anyone out!

If you are aware of any noteworthy GAA related facts from 1987 to present in relation to Fantane NS, St Theresa’s GNS, St Patrick BNS or Scoil Naomh Cualán please get in contact with me at scoilnaomhcualan@gmail.com. Or you can drop photos, newspaper cuttings etc. into the school and I’ll photocopy or scan what’s needed.

I’m looking for photos of teams, photos of Primary Game representatives, write ups from finals, coaches that were involved over the years, pupils who went on to represent Tipperary in the various codes, GAA quiz winners etc.

Many thanks for your help,

Michael Small
