Munster Fleadh

The Borrisoleigh Trad group recently provided street entertainment at the Munster Fleadh Cheoil in Liberty Square Thurles. The group delighted friends and visitors to the Fleadh on the Saturday evening with their talents of music, song and dance. This was a unique experience for the young musicians and they did the parish proud. The All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil is taking place in Wexford from 9-11th August and we wish Seosamh Boyle (Flute and Tin Whistle) Erin and Michael Hogan (Comhrá Gaelige) the best of luck in their respective competitions.

Community Cycle

Last weekend we travelled to Abbeyshrule for two days of cycling on the Royal Canal Greenway. We cycled 75kms the first day to Cloondraha enjoying the scenery and coffee stops along the way. On Sunday we cycled 55kms to Mullingar stopping by the locks and aquaduct and bridges. We had more coffee stops which made a very enjoyable weekend on our bikes beside the beautiful nature on offer to us. Thanks to everyone who travelled and helped make it a very enjoyable weekend full of chat, banter and plenty of laughs along the way. Cycles most Sundays from Borrisoleigh if anyone is interested and wants to join us.

                                                                                             ————————————————————————————————-

Hi all,

I’ve been tasked with compiling and writing a history of GAA activity in the primary schools, e.g. North Finals/ County Finals, Primary Game, INTO mini sevens etc.

The more recent history is fairly well documented, however older records are sparse. I don’t want to leave anyone out!

If you are aware of any noteworthy GAA related facts from 1987 to present in relation to Fantane NS, St Theresa’s GNS, St Patrick BNS or Scoil Naomh Cualán please get in contact with me at scoilnaomhcualan@gmail.com. Or you can drop photos, newspaper cuttings etc. into the school and I’ll photocopy or scan what’s needed.

I’m looking for photos of teams, photos of Primary Game representatives, write ups from finals, coaches that were involved over the years, pupils who went on to represent Tipperary in the various codes, GAA quiz winners etc.

Many thanks for your help,

Michael Small
