Appeal for News
This is an appeal to those of you who are involved in various activities (which have increased a lot recently), not to forget to send us an email with a few lines and maybe a photo or two publicising what you are doing. The regular users of this site (particularly those not on social media) would like to see them and it will help paint a fuller picture of what is taking place in and around Borrisoleigh. We rely on you, the local community, to send us your news.
Thanks,
Borrisoleigh Website Committee
Positions Available – Community Employment Programme
Three positions are available in Borrisoleigh under the Community Employment (CE) programme. The CE programme is designed to help people who are long-term unemployed (or otherwise disadvantaged) to get back to work by offering part-time and temporary placements in jobs based within local communities. Participants can take up other part-time work during their placement. After the placement, participants are encouraged to look for permanent jobs elsewhere, based on the experience and new skills they have gained while on a Community Employment scheme.
The Community Employment programme is administered by the Department of Social Protection (DSP). The DSP gives financial support in the form of allowances and funding to assist with the Community Employment programme, for example participant wages, supervisor grants, materials grants and specific skills training grants. Community Employment sponsors are the voluntary organisations or public bodies that manage CE schemes at a local level.

Borris-Ileigh GAA Club News
Congrats to our U13 whites team who had a great win over our neighbours Templederry in difficult conditions in Bishop Quinlan Park last Friday evening. After a really hard fought battle which ebbed and flowed all through, a fantastic strike from a placed ball from 30 yards by Tadgh Kelly, hopped once before crashing to the back of the net for a cracking goal to give us victory by a mere 2 points.

AXA Community Bike Ride
Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for a cycle over the last year. We had some great days on the bike and enjoyed coffee stops all over the county. This year our annual outing is a trip to the new Limerick greenway on September 5th which is fully booked but you can still join us any Sunday for a local cycle.
As we have 2 leaders now in the community we hope to cater for all with easygoing and challenging cycles. Thanks to the leaders and anyone that has helped out this year, we really appreciate your efforts and patience and hopefully going forward we can keep it interesting for everyone.
Heritage Week
Last Friday evening, despite adverse weather conditions, we conducted our tour of Glenkeen Graveyard as our contribution to National Heritage week.
