Track-Attack Club Notes
Impressive Showing from the 2 Cillians
The inclement weather halted the return of Track-Attack but once the snow and ice melted, we returned with a bang and the eagerness of the participants to kickstart their New Year’s fitness resolutions became evident once the start whistle echoed around the park in Borrisoleigh.
Forty nine people toed the line in the 2km section of opening leg of Destination Latteragh Series which is kindly sponsored by Pallas Cleaning Services (TJ Ryan). A blistering run by the youthful Cillian Butler caught the eye as he stopped the clock at 9:09, although hot on his heels was his first cousin Will Treacy who finished a mere 14 seconds in arrears. The performances of Bronagh Prout and Aoife Bourke were amongst others to catch the eye.
A group of 26 participants tackled the 3km course with the talented duo of Cillian Shanahan and Aisling Carr clocking the fastest times of the night, clocking 13:34 and 13:50 respectively. We also had impressive showings from Ally Cummins, Kate Bourke and Declan Curtis while the Franks’ trio of Thomas, Kenny and Emily all recorded admirable times.
Peter Madden set the early pace in the 4km section with a steady run from start to finish and a finishing time of 15:41. There was nothing sluggish about the crew chasing him down however as Ollie Carr, Tom Keane and Ronan Carr all clipped under the 17 minute mark.
There were fantastic performances right throughout the three distances. The task now is to challenge yourself to improve on your time from last week. It’s never too late to sign up, we welcome all comers to join us on Monday nights. Sign up on www.borrisoleightrackattack.ie
Each week we will have a spot prize draw amongst all finishers where the winner will receive a Track-Attack hat. The winner of the draw in week one is Ronan Carr.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
Every year, Christians from all over the world celebrate a week of prayer for Christian Unity. Thes year, the Ecumenical Community of Bose in Northern Italy have prepared a series of prayers and reflections to commemorate 1700 years since the Council of Nicaea, a fruit of which was the Nicene Creed that we profess at Mass. This year’s theme is “Do you believe this?”, from the Gospel of John. To mark the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the parish of Knockainey and Patrickswell have organised an Ecumenical Worship Service Saturday 25th January at 12 noon in Saint Mary’s Church, Knockainey. All Christian faiths welcome.

————————————————————————————————-
Hi all,
I’ve been tasked with compiling and writing a history of GAA activity in the primary schools, e.g. North Finals/ County Finals, Primary Game, INTO mini sevens etc.
The more recent history is fairly well documented, however older records are sparse. I don’t want to leave anyone out!
If you are aware of any noteworthy GAA related facts from 1987 to present in relation to Fantane NS, St Theresa’s GNS, St Patrick BNS or Scoil Naomh Cualán please get in contact with me at scoilnaomhcualan@gmail.com. Or you can drop photos, newspaper cuttings etc. into the school and I’ll photocopy or scan what’s needed.
I’m looking for photos of teams, photos of Primary Game representatives, write ups from finals, coaches that were involved over the years, pupils who went on to represent Tipperary in the various codes, GAA quiz winners etc.
Many thanks for your help,
Michael Small
