Mary Drives Team Sligo to League Summit
With just two legs of the round robin section of the Track-Attack All Ireland Series which is sponsored by Declan Maher Financial Services remaining, Teams Laois, Louth, Sligo and Waterford are all in the leading positions of their respective groups.
Team Laois held tough in group one to retain their table topping position. A top class performance from Saoirse Ryan was the driving force behind last week’s outing coupled with similarly impressive performances from Triona Fitzgerald and Marie Tierney while the evergreen John Slattery also produced the goods to leave their team in an excellent position to qualify for the knockout places.
Portroe’s Eilus O’Sullivan was the star of Team Louth as they performed brilliantly to head up group two for the first time. Eilus was ably abetted by Silvermines’ David Forde while the performances of both Anne Marie Stapleton and Dan Ryan also contributed greatly to their teams league ladder leap.
Mary Lavery clipped some excellent time from her previous best to ensure that Team Sligo held on to their table topping position in group three. Templederry duo of Daniel Madden and Sharon Harkin were also in excellent form while young-gun David Rabbitte also shone brightly in his teams overall victory on the night.
The Deise County have made their move for group supremacy and now sit looking down on their nearest competitors at the summit of group four. To the fore of their teams scoring were Paula Stapleton and Claire Butler who both produced highly impressive performances on the night.
