Borrisoleigh Active Social Club
The AGM of the Borrisoleigh Active Social Club took place last Wednesday night in the Community Centre Borrisoleigh. There was a good attendance and great interest to see what activities we’ll do for the coming year.
We launched our fundraising 45 Drive which takes place on Sat April 6th at 8pm in the Community Centre Borrisoleigh. Tickets are €10 and can be purchased from any of our members. Proceeds from this will go to purchasing another few pieces of the outdoor exercise equipment in the park and finishing off the area around it. All support will be appreciated.
Borris-Ileigh GAA History Book
Hi all,
I’ve been tasked with compiling and writing a history of GAA activity in the primary schools, e.g. North Finals/ County Finals, Primary Game, INTO mini sevens etc.
The more recent history is fairly well documented, however older records are sparse. I don’t want to leave anyone out!
If you are aware of any noteworthy GAA related facts from 1987 to present in relation to Fantane NS, St Theresa’s GNS, St Patrick BNS or Scoil Naomh Cualán please get in contact with me at scoilnaomhcualan@gmail.com. Or you can drop photos, newspaper cuttings etc. into the school and I’ll photocopy or scan what’s needed.
I’m looking for photos of teams, photos of Primary Game representatives, write ups from finals, coaches that were involved over the years, pupils who went on to represent Tipperary in the various codes, GAA quiz winners etc.
Many thanks for your help,
Michael Small

Reader query
A reader has contacted us with an unusual question and we’re hoping that one of you can help.
This person was passing by Kilfithmone recently and at the crossroads there is a stone, apparently on a plinth (see attached photo). They are wondering if anyone would know anything about this stone, if it might be an old lifting stone, like the one at the cross in Ballingarry, or if it is just decorative.
If you can enlighten us on this question please let us know on info@borrisoleigh.ie

Pope Francis has written a letter to you. Have you read it?

[7.30pm – 9.00pm] with rotating venues as follows: February 28th: McAuley Centre, Templemore, March 6th: Inch Hall, March 13th: Borrisoleigh Community Centre, March 19th: Loughmore Hall.
Worldwide Day of Prayer for Survivors and Victims of Sexual Abuse
Will take place on 16 February, the first Friday of Lent. The Day of Prayer is an initiative of Pope Francis and was first marked in Irish dioceses in 2017. Blessed candles will be lit in parishes across the country as a reminder to the faithful of the need for atonement and to symbolise repentance, light in the darkness and hope. These ‘Candles of Atonement’ will be lit in diocesan cathedrals and churches on the Day of Prayer, and thereafter during the celebration of Mass and other liturgies. The lighting of the ‘Candle of Atonement’, and the following prayer, are based on the very moving Penitential Rite composed and prayed by Pope Francis at the final Mass of the 9th World Meeting of Families on 26 August 2018 at Phoenix Park, Dublin, when the Holy Father implored the Lord’s mercy for the crimes of abuse and asked for forgiveness.
Thought for the week:
Sometimes God takes you on a journey you didn’t know you needed, to bring you everything you ever wanted. Trust the plan.
