“Tipperary Water” County Senior Hurling League:

Commiserations to our Senior hurlers who were defeated in Round 4 of Division 1 the “Tippearary Water” County Senior Hurling League last Saturday evening by Portroe away in Portroe. Down a large number of regular first team starter we went down on a score of 4-18 to 1-21 in what was a very open game of Hurling. Portroe started strongly and had the upper early on thanks two quick fire goals early on, one coming from former Tipperary All Ireland Minor winner Ruadhan Mulrooney to put then 2-05 to 0-04 after 12 minutes. But we responded with a goal of our own through Conor Kenny along with a few well taken scores from Sean McCormack and Shane Kenny in midfield managing to draw level with 5 to go in the first half. But Portroe hit 1-03 without reply to take in a six point lead at the break with the scoreboard reading 3-12 to 1-12. We started the second half in much brighter fashion managing to get the gap back to three thanks to some excellent free taking from Conor Kenny and a great long range effort from Matthew Stapleton. But a fourth Portroe goal with 10 minutes left to play unfortunately decided the game with Portroe running out deserved six point winners. Team and Scorers: Jody Harkin,

Thomas Fahy, Ciaran Cowan, Maurice Ryan

Michael Ryan, Seamus Burke, Patrick O’Connell

Sean McCormack (0-05(0-01 65)), Shane Kenny (0-02)

Ryan Murphy, Liam Ryan, Micheal Carey

James McCormack, Conor Kenny (1-13(0-11f)), Matthew Stapleton (0-01)

Subs Used: Sean Kenny for Ryan Murphy, Seamus Ryan for James McCormack

Our Junior ‘A’s will continue their campaign in this years North Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship as they take on Toomevara in Round 2 of the competition. The game will take on Saturday the 16th of June in Dolla at 7.30pm. We would like to wish both players and management the best of luck, hopefully we can build on a good draw with North Junior ‘A’ Hurling League champions Roscrea last time out. All support greatly appreciated.

Tipperary GAA:

Huge commiserations to our Senior intercounty players Dan McCormack and Brendan Maher who were part of the Tipperary team who exited the Munster and All Ireland Championship last Sunday after an agonising two point defeat to Clare in Semple Stadium in Thurles. A disappointing end to a frustrating year from a Tipperary point of view but we as a club would to like thanks the lads for all their effort and commitment shown throughout the 2018 season and for representing our club in such a fantastic manner. No doubt they will come back stronger next year.

Congratulations to our Minor intercounty hurlers James Devaney and Kevin Maher who recorded an impressive 2-14 to 1-12 victory over the Clare minors before the Senior game in Semple Stadium on Sunday. This victory now leaves them on 4 points in the Round Robin table after two games, they now must wait for the final round of fixtures next weekend to find out if they will advance to the Munster Final.
