Borrisoleigh Active Social Club

Borrisoleigh Active Social Club held their last meeting of the season on Wednesday June 5th. There was a great crowd in attendance and lots of ideas and events discussed for the summer season.

We had a group that gathered in the GAA grounds on Thursday to start using the outdoor exercise equipment.  This was followed by a meal in The Community Centre provided by Meals on Wheels.  We will meet again this Thursday at 12.30pm for about an hour in the GAA grounds to continue to familiarise everyone with the exercise equipment.  Everybody is welcome.
Our next trip is to The Races in Tipperary on Tuesday July 2nd. Further details can be got from Eileen 087 9849848 or Lucia 086 3961211 but names need to be registered by Friday June 21st.
The Mystery Tour is on July 19th.  We have a full bus but if we get sufficient numbers we would consider putting on a second one. Any outstanding monies (€40) for this trip needs to be paid by June 27th.
On August 14th we’ve been invited to visit Coolmore Stud. We are restricted to 25 members going so if you are interested please register your name with either Eileen or Lucia as soon as possible for more details.

Borris-Ileigh GAA History Book

Hi all,

I’ve been tasked with compiling and writing a history of GAA activity in the primary schools, e.g. North Finals/ County Finals, Primary Game, INTO mini sevens etc.

The more recent history is fairly well documented, however older records are sparse. I don’t want to leave anyone out!

If you are aware of any noteworthy GAA related facts from 1987 to present in relation to Fantane NS, St Theresa’s GNS, St Patrick BNS or Scoil Naomh Cualán please get in contact with me at scoilnaomhcualan@gmail.com. Or you can drop photos, newspaper cuttings etc. into the school and I’ll photocopy or scan what’s needed.

I’m looking for photos of teams, photos of Primary Game representatives, write ups from finals, coaches that were involved over the years, pupils who went on to represent Tipperary in the various codes, GAA quiz winners etc.

Many thanks for your help,

Michael Small
