Tom Tops Table

We’ve reached the end of Block one of the Destination Latteragh Series which was sponsored by Pallas Cleaning Services and all nine groups are being closely contested.

In the Red Group, Tom Keane from Kilcommon is the early pace setter although he only has a single point of an advantage over his near neighbour while Templederry’s Daniel Madden is occupying the third spot.

Templederry’s Jacqueline Minogue leads the way in the Blue Group, holding a two point lead over Shane Donnelly from Killea. The leader in the Green Group is Donal Ryan with his wife Noreen and Galway native Mairéad Lane tied for second spot.

Kilcommon young-gun Aidan Carr is in red hot form in the Yellow Group and holds a four point lead over Loughmore’s Tom McGrath and Mary Shanahan. Mayo native Stephen Morrin continues to impress in the Orange Group and extended his lead over Margie Ryan and Lisa Carr.

Two more young-guns lead the way in the Purple Group. Leah O’Brien produced another excellent performance last week which saw her join Borrisoleigh’s Jack Maher as joint leaders of the group. A superb performance from Ralfs Vilande ensured that he consolidated his table topping placing. Paul Treacy and Megan O’Brien are leading the chasing pack while a brilliant performance from Steph O’Neill have brought her right into contention.

Pairic Ryan has joined his namesake Laura Ryan at the head of the Pink Group with another talented young-gun Tommy Curtis is only one point in arrears. The father/son combo of Johnny and Jack Ryan lead the White Group followed closely by Maura O’Brien and Samantha Curtis.

We now start Block 2 which is sponsored by John Cummins Engineering. The 4km distance move to 6km, the 3km move to 4km while the 2km course is now 2.5km.

You can follow the progress of all the groups and other Track-Attack activities on our Facebook page.

                                                                                             ————————————————————————————————-

Hi all,

I’ve been tasked with compiling and writing a history of GAA activity in the primary schools, e.g. North Finals/ County Finals, Primary Game, INTO mini sevens etc.

The more recent history is fairly well documented, however older records are sparse. I don’t want to leave anyone out!

If you are aware of any noteworthy GAA related facts from 1987 to present in relation to Fantane NS, St Theresa’s GNS, St Patrick BNS or Scoil Naomh Cualán please get in contact with me at scoilnaomhcualan@gmail.com. Or you can drop photos, newspaper cuttings etc. into the school and I’ll photocopy or scan what’s needed.

I’m looking for photos of teams, photos of Primary Game representatives, write ups from finals, coaches that were involved over the years, pupils who went on to represent Tipperary in the various codes, GAA quiz winners etc.

Many thanks for your help,

Michael Small

Marriage Encounter Ireland

The Catholic Marriage Enrichment Programme has been transforming marriages in Ireland for over 50 years, and it is active in 94 countries worldwide. This programme offers a weekend experience that helps couples enhance their communication and deepen their love for each other. The weekend experience provides a broader and deeper understanding of the sacrament of marriage. Sacramentally married couples are invited to participate. Faithful to the Roman Catholic Church’s teaching, we understand marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman. While faith is an important aspect of the experience, the focus of the weekend is on the realities and challenges of married life. Restore, Renew, Rekindle. We welcome you to our next Marriage. Enrichment Weekend Friday 28th– 30th March 2025. Venue: Knock, Co. Mayo www.marriageencounter.ie
