Series of Events at Cabragh Wetlands

Cabragh Wetlands is delighted to announce a series of free events which will run through September, October and November and which will comprise a little over three hours of activities, refreshments and music with the environment and its protection as a background theme. These events will be developed to meet the particular interests of various parts of the community including younger people, older people, new communities, sports clubs, business people and people with particular needs.

The programme of events is being made possible by a generous grant provided by the National Parks and Wildlife Service under its Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme 2024.

We will be taking small groups of 20 or so and giving them a tour of the wetlands, including the Cosmic Walk, bird hides, and ponds. We will be giving people hands-on experience with the equipment that is used in exploring nature and monitoring the environment. We will have some discussion about how each of us, within their own boundaries, can help become part of the movement to protect the planet, as well as the challenges and barriers to our doing that. And we will have some refreshments and some music to help things along. And, depending on the group, we will have quizzes, treasure hunts, or up-cycling workshops.

You are welcome to come as an individual, but it will be much more fun as part of a group. So talk to any group of which you are a member and arrange for a few of you to come along. We plan to arrange over 20 sessions throughout the Autumn so there is bound to be one that suits you.

We will be giving more information about the programme as time goes on. So be prepared and keep a eye out on social media, the papers and the radio. Or for more information email us at cabraghwetlandsmembers@gmail.com or call at 0504 43879 and we will get back to you.

                                                                                             ————————————————————————————————-

Hi all,

I’ve been tasked with compiling and writing a history of GAA activity in the primary schools, e.g. North Finals/ County Finals, Primary Game, INTO mini sevens etc.

The more recent history is fairly well documented, however older records are sparse. I don’t want to leave anyone out!

If you are aware of any noteworthy GAA related facts from 1987 to present in relation to Fantane NS, St Theresa’s GNS, St Patrick BNS or Scoil Naomh Cualán please get in contact with me at scoilnaomhcualan@gmail.com. Or you can drop photos, newspaper cuttings etc. into the school and I’ll photocopy or scan what’s needed.

I’m looking for photos of teams, photos of Primary Game representatives, write ups from finals, coaches that were involved over the years, pupils who went on to represent Tipperary in the various codes, GAA quiz winners etc.

Many thanks for your help,

Michael Small
